What are SS condensate pots?
The condensate pots are also known as seal pots. These are used in the measurement of steam or other vapors for two reasons; one is that a level of condensed water is accumulated inside of the pot. This maintains a fluid volume for displacement that is equal and greater than the volume displacement of the transmitter; it is protecting the transmitter from heat. The second reason for maintaining a fluid inside of the pots is to prevent flashing of the liquid in the impulsive line in a sudden temperature change of the steam is made. It has a dam inside of the pot that prevents these flashing effects. These condensate pots have more outlets for applications where foreign materials should be trapped and drained avoiding damage of the transmitters and manifolds are also available.
Alloy 316 is composed of molybdenum, nickel, and chromium austenitic stainless steel grade. It is developed to provide enhanced corrosion resistance in moderately corrosive environments. These often utilized in processing streams that contain a high concentration of chlorides and halides. UNS S31600 is another name of alloy 316 in a unified numbering system. In addition to molybdenum, so that it gains local and general corrosion cracking. These condensate pots have higher creep, tensile strength and stress to rupture strength. it can perform at a higher temperature. This grade is dual certified that attains all strength of standard grades. It has slightly carbon content with some composition of nitrogen that helps to acquire desired mechanical strength and physical attributes. This grade resists atmospheric corrosion in the environments in moderate to higher reducing and oxidizing environments. It performs well in the intergranular corrosion attacks in the heat affected zone. It has high strength and toughness at hoisted temperatures.
